<.p4>The following customer had a driveshaft that was dented by UPS when it arrived.  We built a replacement and sent it at no charge.

Mr. M
My name is Brent.
I think it is best that we send you out another driveshaft.
If it was mine I don't think l I would ever be 100% pleased and I want you to be 110% happy.  I will do everything possible to get this on the way today.
Monday would be the extreme.
Do you still have the original carton for the one UPS damaged?
If so I would like for you to send it back in that carton.
When the new driveshaft arrives we will have a pre-paid UPS label to return the damaged one.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

(This Brent, I still have the tube the drive shaft came in. Soon as the other one arrives I'll pull it and ship it. Wow talk about costumer service! It looks like you guys take pride in  what you do. I'm the same way. I'm an electrician by trade and help build cars, chassis, headers and other thing for cars. I always get kinda picked on because I want it to be "right" ,to picky I am. Hey, it's got my name on it.  The car I'm currently working on is for a good friend of mine. Could you recommend a shaft for it and give me a round about price.  It is a 79 malibu wagon, it has a 632" Big Chief Headed B.B. Chevy. Dyno'ed a little over 1400 hp with a 200 horse fogger tune-up in it. It will be running a power glide and a fab 9 rear end. I'll be sure to tell him about the service you guy's have given me. Thanks, Jeff M.

Hey Brent,

Just want to let you know I got the driveshaft installed and I must say you do very nice work. Slip yoke travel is about a inch from bottoming out at ride height. I hope to run it this weekend. Thanks again for the nice piece,

Jeff/Brent,
Just a short note to thank you for your patience and assistance in identifying and supplying the correct replacement driveshaft for my wife's '99 Volvo V70XC.  I installed it last weekend and the car is running great.  I sent you the old shaft yesterday via UPS - please email me at TKM to confirm receipt and to acknowledge processing of the core deposit. Thanks again, Tom M Lancaster, PA

Mr. Crownover,    I appreciate all your help in finding the right part for my truck. It fit perfectly and solved
my problem. Your customer service is excellent and price was right too. Don't need these
kinds of parts too often but when I do I'll be back. Thanks Mark  Oklahoma

Brent,   Received d'shaft yesterday- fit perfectly, quality looks excellent. Thanks for the quick response and shipping.  I'll definitely recommend your company to my friends.           Doug M

Thanks Brent.  The driveshaft worked out perfect.  Will keep you in  mind and forward future referrals your way. Don

Hi, My name is Murray R. I am from New Hampshire. I purchased a 2 pieced driveshaft for my 2004 ford F-150 in December. I didn't install it until this past weekend as I waited for the snow to leave. I have a garage under my house but my truck is too high to fit under. I have to tell you that you guys do great QUALITY! work building these driveshafts and the advice on installation via internet is a big help. I just wanted you to know that American companies that do High Quality work like you obviously do are hard to come by and I appreciate doing business with professionals!!! Thanks again and I will do all of the advertising that I can for you guys!!!  Sincerely, Murray R

The local Fleet Pride driveline shop couldn't make a proper driveshaft despite 3 trips to them to for vibration issues.I phoned your shop,a polite knowledgeable salesperson, the shaft arrives here in New York a few days later. No more vibration issues, thanks. Tony P, Ontario NY

Jeff, Just a quick note to say thanks for the great driveshaft you built for my son’s 1998 Camaro 3.8L with T5 manual.  It was received on schedule and he said it took him less than 30 minutes to remove the old and install the new driveshaft.  He said it is like driving a different car with the bulletproof aluminum shaft you guys provided.   You made his Christmas. Thanks again, Ron

Mr. Murray,
The driveshaft is on the way.  I will send a copy via a different email with tracking info.  The driveshaft did not leave on Friday the 10th as USPS did not pick it up as promised.  So on Monday we went to the Post Office to hand deliver.  Post was closed because of Columbus Day. - Dang!  Went back with it on Tuesday the 14th and they took it. Jeff just tracked it and it does not show anything.  That is what I usually get when I order and track with USPS.  I am sure it will be there soon.

Hey Brent,

Just wanted to let you know that I love the driveshaft so far.  It went right in with no trouble.  However, it's the fuel cell and brake companies keeping my car from moving (both have defects), so I cannot give you a report on how it drives.  I'm leaving for my wedding and honeymoon, so the car will have to sit for about a month.  Thanks for all of your help.Lee

Hi Mr. Crownover,

one year ago I promised to keep you posted concerning the custom made driveshaft you built for my 68 400 Firebird. Some time went by and it runs perfectly! The car´s nearly finished now (still had to get the correct 400 hood + hood tach; the latter two got their paint job today but the car finally will be finished this upcoming week).

Thanks again for your help and could well be that I´m in need of your perfect services again soon: I bought a mint 66 El Camino last year (one of the smaller versions with the standard 283 cci 2bbl engine with powerglide. It still looks very good but I´m afraid I can´t stand the beginning imperfections very long, thus leading me once again into a full restoration... LOL).

I´ve attached a few pics showing your driveshaft after assembly down below in the attachment (perhaps it would have been better not to be caught by the rain before taking pics...).
Enjoy and have a nice weekend!

I bought this 1984 Camaro from a co-worker . It is completely stock and extremely well kept except it had this strange vibration in the shifter that started at 57 MPH , was terrible at 60-65MPH then started to smooth out at 70MPH but was always present after 57MPH. It was so irritating It took all the fun out of driving the car. I received and installed your aluminum drive shaft and transmission yoke today and the vibration is completely gone. I could not be happier. It is smoother than my highest expectations..............................Thanks for all of your technical assistance and for producing a terrific product.................Mark M. B.

Brent,First of all, thanks for the link below – Cool!

Second, you mentioned on the phone that you rarely hear back when all is well so here’s doin my part for positive feedback…  What a beautiful product!  Great quality, craftsmanship, packaging, service, advice, and very nice paint job.  I will strongly recommend your company to anyone looking for a driveline component.  Thanks for being a source for quality.  There are not enough of you still around.  I hope you never feel tempted to deviate from your formula and that the business rewards you for it.

Third, I thought you might enjoy this video.  http://www.cobraautomotive.com/race_movies.htm If you have good bandwidth, choose the clip in the lower right hand window. These guys are from Cobra Automotive.  This is the kind of thing I hope to do.  My car is a 66 mustang fastback set up for road racing and made to look like a Shelby .  These guys are racing real Shelbys and pushing them hard. This is how to treat a rare $150K vehicle.  They are much beyond me. I hope you like it. Take care, Jeff

Hi Brent and Jeff,

Hi Brent,  Received the drive shaft today and installed it, fits great, and went out and pumped 405 ft lb of torque through it on a squalling peel out and every thing is great. I’m really happy with the beefier yokes and u-joints.  Thanks, Dave  David Fitz  1966 El Camino

hi brent its nick i got the drive shaft great job you guys are awsome i will recromend you guys to anybody thank you very much

Dear Brent -
I received my new driveshaft on Friday and installed it yesterday.  You guys did a great job.
It fits perfectly and the car now cruises vibration free.  The old driveshaft in the Mustang was rusted and obviously out of balance (I don't know if they even balanced them back in the 1960's).  The driveshaft is a great value for the money and I really appreciate the time you took to get the exact right universal joints for it.
I normally purchase my Mustang parts from National Parts Depot, California Mustang or Mid County Mustang catalogs -- you should consider hooking up with these catalogs to offer your products -- because NONE of them have driveshafts available for these old Mustangs and I'll bet there are thousands of customers like myself that would appreciate a new, well made driveshaft for their classic mustang.
 Anyway, thanks again.

MICHAEL S, O.D.

I just got my drive shaft today and, It fits great, it went on easier than the old one.
Also, I was wondering if you have a sticker I could put on my back window?
No big deal If You don't...
Thanks,
Matthew R

Will use you for my next drive shaft issue and tell others

Hi Brent,

Once again you have gone extra MILES for me regarding my special interest collector cars.  Other than telling others about you and your services and the highest level of my satisfaction, there is only one other thing I can think to do:  I've done a lot of parts research over my life as a resto shop owner / manager and collector and have some sources (such as Collector's Auto Supply) that are well beyond what I would expect you to ever find.  If you are stuck finding a joint OEM part number for a Chrysler product or a resource to get one, I can probably help.  I might be able to do the same for some Ford cars.  I am not a GM fan so I don't have books or references for the Generals cars.   Also in counter discussions of people's cars, if I can help with any other part search, you or your customer are welcome to contact me by email (don't give out my phone, please).

I'm no guru on this stuff, but certainly willing to help in return for the effort you are going to help me.

The worst case scenario would be if you said "these antiques are driving business down" and you refused to take them in.  Most 1936 and later driveshaft needs are pretty standardized and normal.   And most restorers and modifiers who appreciate the mechanical are desperate for your quality of work.

Thank you and try me if you are stuck and think I can help.

I wanted to drop a thank you for the driveshaft that you all made for my 98 S-10. It fit like a glove; installation took less than ten minutes. Thanks again, if I know of anyone else looking for a driveshaft I will send them your direction.

Hi Brent,
I just want you to know that I received the drive shaft and have installed it. It just slid into place through the safety loop, into the tranny and bolted up to the diff. Perfect.
Thanks!
Ted

Hi Brent,
I appreciate your concern and response.  Great to see I'm working with a customer oriented business.  Regarding the flex-disk, at the time I installed the drive it was NEW.  The driveshaft after I mounted is was about 1/2-3/4 of an inch short.  There is no way the flexdisk can line up perfectly unless the shaft segments move easily since the pilot shaft has to slide into the driveshaft bushing.
I mounted the bolts, put a litte torque on them and realized the disc had flexed about 1/8-1/4 inch.  As I realized the forward driveshaft segment was not really sliping easily out of the back segment, I used a bar and a hammer to tap it forward to get the slip-section to release.  After a few taps, it did release and the flexdisck straightened up to normal.  I replaced the mounts at the same time.  The old ones were totally shot.  Had a leaky real seal and the tranny fluid basically dissolved them.  Rather like jello when I pulled them out.
The reason I think it is the driveshaft is because it really is not torque dependent.  For example the vibration sets up if I accelerate slowly or quickly.  Also, if I put the car in neutral from 60 as I slow coming off the interstate and allow the car to slow down naturally, the vibration still happens at the same speed intervals.  The problem I had with the old flexdisk really were torque related.  If I got this wrong please let me know your opinion.
I may not easily find the time to do this job again.  I hope this does not cause a problem with you in terms of getting a replacement taken care of.  Also, do you suggest I pick up another flexdisk?  I saw what the old one looked like and it was a mess when I started messing with this.  The amount I flexed it was not much more that you could do with your hands when you hold it.
Again, I really appreciate your help here.  Let me know how to handle this.  I need to look at my calendar for a free weekend to knock this out again.  (Also, not during a blizzard!  We just took a beating with snow up here in DC)
Thanx,
     Bob Z

I have to say, that is one beautiful piece of equipment. Thank you so much for all your help  Ryan

DSI,
I want to thank you for your fine service and product. The driveshaft you built for me fit perfect and is strong and dependable. I have had alot of headaches with this project, but the driveshaft wasn't one of them, thanks to you. Thanks again and I will recommend you to everyone.   John T    Russellville, AR 72xxx

Hi Guys
As promised I posted this on the club cobra website
Hi everybody
If you are looking for a driveshaft, I can recommend Driveshaft Specialists of San Antonio. I called them about a custom job: I have a European spec differential from a Ford ScorpioXR4i at the back and a T-5 from a 93 Mustang at the front. They were really helpful over the phone and through email and turned my order around in four days. Several other suppliers had already told me they couldn't do something this non-standard. The driveshaft is top quality, balanced and finished to a high standard. They have a website   John

Dear Jeff

My new driveshaft arrived today and I have to say how impressed I am with your service.  This was a real "custom job" (Ford T5 at the front, European spec XR4 at the back) and it arrived exactly as you said, on time, top quality and fitted right first time. Feel free to quote me. Great Job, especially to Jeff who was so helpful over the phone.  I am going to post on the Cobra Club website and let them know about your great service.  The driveshaft is fitted already and I have attached a couple of photo's if you want to use them on your site
Best Regards
John

Brent,
Dropped the core at the UPS store this morning.

Thanks so much for the great service, I will be

Hi, My name is Tom M I spoke with you a month or two ago about a problem with a drive shaft I purchased from you, I was suppose to send it to you because of a  bad vibration in the front shaft, I have been running on my old shaft and my Jeep is vibration free and have forgotten to send the new one back to you. I just wanted to remind you and will be sending it this week. The shaft was for my 1994 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 liter I bought it from you sometime in November 2004 put only a 100 miles on it or so, just let me know if you have any questions, thanks again.

Mr. Crownover,

I received the part on Monday, Quality Transmissions installed it on Tuseday
and I have been riding every since.  Once again, thank you for outstanding

I just wanted to thank you for your support and your donation to our high school Jeep project.  The work you did on the driveshaft of our 87 YJ was fantastic.  My students didn't know you could have driveshafts made longer

I also wanted to update you on the project.  We completed the Chevy 383 stroker conversion (and your shaft is holding up great to it) and got the Jeep back on the road.  We entered 3 car/truck shows this past summer and came out with a second in class finish in one of them thanks in part to your grat work.  We also competed in 7 off-road events coming out with a 3rd, 4th, and 6th place finish being our best showings.  We even got a 12 place finish out of 100 vehicles in the burn-out contest (the kids really loved this) during the 2004 Cruzin Downriver show.  Not once did your shaft fail us.  We can't say enough about your company.  We tell anyone that will listen and even some that won't.

I also wanted to update you as to the location of the Jeep project.  I have left the Lenawee Career Center and am now Overseeing the Automotive Program at the Sault Area Career Center located in Sault Sainte Marie Michigan.  Yes, it's a huge change from living "down state" to living way, WAY up north, but it's a welcome change.  I like the woods, the trails, and the 4 wheel drive adventures that are offered here that living in the city can not offer.  One major change is the demographic of the students.  The community here is far more into the 4 wheel drive end of the vehicle spectrum than other areas like the sport compact or drag race community.  So the Jeep project lives here, and is far more revered in this community.  We have already scheduled 8 off-road events in the U.S. and Cananda for the 2005 season and the Jeep is entered in the Parade Down Memory Lane during the St. Ignace car show in June.  We are also working on a schedule for several organized off-road trail rides for the coming season with the Jeep running as trail boss.  Currently the schedule stands at 5 runs.

Current upgrades that are in progress include switching tires to swampers on the front and boggers on the rear for the mud bog races, installing locking differentials at both ends and upgrading to 5 point safety harnesses.  When money permits we would like to add a rear bumper with a spare holder to get the spare out of the back seat and convert the suspension to coils through the use of the Black Diamond kit, however, these upgrades are costly and can wait.

We will continue to be a presence in the 4 wheel drive community and will tout your name to all that will hear.  Your logos are proudly displayed on our show board (see attached picture) however we need some stickers for the Jeep.  Could we get a few stickers, if you have them, to show our support?

Thank you again for your support.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Brent,

Sorry I couldn't get back with you earlier.  I installed the driveshaft last Friday and everything works great.  Thanks for the terrific customer service, I'll definitely let everyone know about your business.  I dropped off the core and damaged driveshafts at a UPS store on Monday.

Thanks again

Brent,
Thank you.  I received the F-150 drive shaft kit, installation was fairly strait forward and easy. I just wanted to thank you for the nice work you do. Just had a few more questions:
1)  How often (miles) does the drive shaft need to be lubricated?
2) Can you recommend the type and amount of lubricant that should be used?
3) Is any other care / maintenance required?
Thanks again for all your help.

Brent, I just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for your help in getting a driveshaft for my BMW on the way. It's seldom that you run into a company that has as qualified and hardworking as yours. Too often consumers are quick to criticize and slow to praise. I am an active member of the San Antonio Sports Car Association (SASCA) and have passed along my recommendations of your shop to all the club member through its forums (http://66.140.241.85/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=929) Our club website is: WWW.SASportsCar.com  if you are intrested.
